Commander Auditions [December 20]

C O M M A N D E R A U D I T I O N S  

As you all know even Shades are in need of a ‘deputy’.  

However we like to call them Commanders! 

There are in fact two positions open, but due to our small and remaining size only one position will be available for grabs at the moment.  

Remember to talk to Crowstar/Coercion AND Vulturestar/Koyote 

BEFORE making a shade cat. You may audition at will though comforted that you have the available time and character slots! (You do not have to have a Shade already to be eligible to audition!)


As usual, there will be a IC audition after the OOC audition. 
Please be honest!


I understand these are up around Christmas time, and will be flexible with activity during the holidays, but once they pass it will be back to usual. 


- As a deputy you will be expected to remain active and uphold your position properly. 

- If you have a history of rule breaking, being-- less than polite, or poor activity then you will not get the rank, unfortunately.

- You should familiarize yourself with the rules, as you are expected to enforce them without hesitation.

IC AUDITION
Role play these out as if you were writing a book!


1. Vulturestar falls ill to a disease that is beyond the aid of the healers, and is almost certainly fatal- and will take her lives. An investigation led to the conclusion that Vulture was poisoned of prey that leaked the scent of  Lichenclan. With Vulture's life fading, what do you do? Do you confront the clan, even though their size triple's your Shades? 


2. Vulture has passed away, and the conditions of the clan and the environment have gotten hard to manage. The prey is running scarce and the harsh weather is preventing a majority of the hunting patrols to do their work. The hardships are having a large toll are the clan's spirit. What do you do to help them see it through? 


3. Vulture left one evening to discuss an allyship with Crowstar, but demanded to be left to attend alone. It has now be over a day and there is no sign of her return. What do you do? 


4.  A patrol led by Vulturestar headed out at dawn, and has not returned yet. It is now evening. You know as much as they were to briefly cut through Hollowclan territory. Most of the strong and experience warriors were within the patrol, leaving you with the new soldiers and the weaker crowd. Do you sort a patrol to follow and perhaps rescue the first? Or do you wait them out, assured they will find their way home. Or perhaps negotiate? What do you do?

Character name: Whisperingwind
In-game username: Dusty1013
Character traits and description: Whisp is a darker pelted she with fading stripes. She has an agile build and was trained hard by Nidra, and is very skilled in the art or combat, hunting, and swimming. She is very motherly and will do anything to protect her clan and her family. But she also has a dark past from when her mother left her.

Activity on a scale of 1 to 8 (be hones!): I'd say I'm an 8 if not 7. I try to be on at least everyday, be as we all have homework and studying to do I can get a little caught up in that. It may seem like I haven't been on, and I really haven't. School has me panicking to finish assignments. But if I am accepted then I will be on everyday for sure.

Whisp sat lone in the healer's den. She hadn't left ever since they had said Vulture was beyond help. Brushing her tail over the sickly feline, she crouched down next to her. "We will find out who did this Vulturestar, and I will make sure this clan is in good paws. I will not let you down." Overhearing commotion outside the den, she swiftly made her way out, tail lashing. She was worried for Vulture, and didn't know how long she would be with them. Her ears swiveled over to the entrance, which seemed to be where the shouting was coming from. She was not in the mood to deal with fighting cats. When what looked like a returned patrol realized she was there, they went silent. Whisp tilted her head forward. "Now what, may I ask is all this commotion about?" She was irritated that they wouldn't quiet down to let their leader get rest. A larger soldier came forward.

"We found this." He kicked forward a limp and half eaten squirrel. "Vulturestar ate this. And it smells of that LichenClan. They did this to her!"

Whisp stood silently as she listened to the toms accusation. But as she took a whiff of the prey, it smelled sickly- and definitely LichenClan. Whisp cast the Tom a worried look before taking the squirrel to where Vulturestar was laying. Slowly approaching, she dropped the squirrel half a fox length from Vulture. She looked awake, but barely hanging on. "A patrol just arrived with this. Did you eat it?" She asked calmly. Vulturestar didn't have the energy to say anything, but gave a slight nod. Letting out a furious grunt she picked up the squirrel by the tail and back to the Tom. "Dispose of this- this disgusting thing. I will decide what to do." Before she could get to the high rock, she could already hear her clan mates whispering and mumbling about what had just happened. They had doubt in Whisp. Just what she needed. Climbing the high rock with a few graceful leaps, she looked down upon her now gathering clan. "Listen to me! All of you!" Once she had their attention she sighed. "I understand you are all scared. Believe me, I am too." She couldn't help be cast a glance to her leader who laid so still you could say she was dead. But there was the faint rising of her chest. "Vulturestar came across a squirrel which had been poisoned and we have a small guess as to who did it." Whisp could hear yowls of fury coming from the cats below. Many "I bet it was LichenClan!" and "Those BoulderClanners are gonna pay!" could be heard. "But right now I need you all to stay calm. We cannot go rushing blindly into battle. They outnumber us, and we cannot fight with our leader's lives on the line. We will have our revenge, trust me. But not yet." To her relief, the cats quieted. With a quick nod, she dismissed them. She immediately headed to the medicine den. The healer was crouched next to Vulture, head against her pelt. "Vanillabean?" But she could hear the faint whimpers of her sister. "Vanillabean what's wr-" Vulture wasn't breathing. Whisp rushed over to her side and searched for signs of life, anything at all. But there was nothing.

Vanillabean spoke up in a raspy voice. "That was her last life Whisp. She- Shes gone." The pale she buried her face into her sisters fur, but Whisp just sat there, unable to take her eyes off her leaders body. She would NOT let LichenClan get away with this. They would pay dearly for taking Vulturestar's life. Whisp nudged Vani. "It'll be alright. I will make things right when the time comes." The two did not leave their leader that day. And stayed with her all night.

It had been moons since Vulture had passed. It had been hard for them all. And it didn't help that prey had been running low. Whisp sat at the edge of Vulture's den. Well now her den. She had lost a few pounds, after giving most of her rations to her children and the other kits. She sighed and rose to her paws. She may as well try to hunt again. Even in her weak state. Before she could reach the entrance, Owl stopped her. "Whisperingwind, you need to rest. Let me hunt instead." Whisp remembered Vulture's death hit Owl the hardest. After all they were sisters. Whisp didn't know what she would do if she lost Vanilla for a second time. Whisp shook her head. "There's no way I'm staying around here. I'm going to hunt whether you like it or not. You can come if you'd like." Whisp's tail swayed as she passed out of the camp. Owl came along, as Whisp thought she would. The cavern was cold, but at least they had the sun shining in on them. As her paws walked over cold stone, she shuddered. As bad as the weather was, and as much as they needed food, she didn't think going to the clans would help. They wouldn't help anyway. Not with their clan mates starving as well. Sighing, she shook her pelt in hopes of warming it up. But then, out of nowhere, Owl pushed her to the ground. Whisp was about to ask what was going on, but Owl shushed her and pointed towards a moving shape. What Whisp thought was prey, was actually a cat. Hunting on their territory. Both of them knew that this cat was endangering the Shades. And something had to be done. As if on an invisible signal, both cats emerged at the same time. The cat jumped back, and hissed at the two shes. Owl stepped forward, tail twitching. "What are you doing here stranger?" She said with a hiss. Tensions were high, and Whisp couldn't blame Owl. Whisp too stepped forward and took her place next to her. Whisp looked the small Tom up and down. She had seen him before. And it seemed that he did too. Because his fur flattened at the sight of her. "Nightpaw?" Yes of course. This was Cloverstep's son.

"Whisp?" He looked from Owl to Whisp. She didn't expect to see the Tom again, and wasn't sure she wanted to. Because he was hunting in their territory. And that meant he had to be punished. Night backed away and looked down at the scrawny mouse he had caught. He caught Whisp's eye and looked down. "I- I know I shouldn't be here. But Cloverstep is sick- and I didn't know what to do. Please Whisp, she needs food." Owl watched Whisp for her next move. "Nightpaw- now you know I can't let you go with that mouse." As much as she cared about him and his mother, she had to put her clan first. "But I will let you go." She got a surprised look from Owl. As if she expected to take him prisoner. "But consider this your final warning. If you are seen here again I will have no choice but to let Owl take this into her own paws. Nightpaw have a scared nod, and ran off. Without the mouse. Whisp slowly picked it up and handed it to Owl. At least they wouldn't come back empty pawed. Owl turned to Whisp. "Why did you let him go? We could have traded him to BoulderClan for food." Whisp sat and closed her eyes. "Because he's like a little brother to me, and his mother cared for me when my mine left. I am in her debt, and she would never forgive me for taking her son." Owl sighed. "Don't let your emotions cloud your judgement. Our clan needs food. How we get it is up to you. Why don't you take this back and I'll keep hunting. You need rest." Whisp knew Owl was right, and she was no good as a weak cat. If she got some rest she could hunt later. She began her trek back to the caverns. Maybe she could split this mouse between her and the kits. She tried a few times to hunt on the way back, and caught a small sparrow. She must have had luck on her side.

"She still isn't back! What if she's in trouble!" A burly Tom shouted. Whisp sat, tail swishing across the ground nervously as she awaited her leader's return. "I'm sure she's fine Buck. It's only been a day. Maybe Crowstar gave her shelter." But Whisp wasn't too sure. She should have been back by now. And something didn't seem right. Vulture would have told them if she was going to be gone long. Whisp spotted Elsa, Vulture's apprentice lurking near the entrance as well. Suddenly an idea came to her. But could she risk it?

"Elsa right? Vulture's apprentice?" The smaller tan and white she nodded. "Yes. And you must be Whisperingwind. Is there anything I can do for you?" Whisp smiled slightly then turned to face the Novitate. "There is, actually something. But it's much to risky. I wouldn't want you to get hurt." Elsa jumped up. "Me hurt? I'm tougher than I look. So what was your plan?" Whisp chuckled when Elsa was convinced enough to help her. "Well it's like this. Vulture left yesterday to go see Crowstar. I would go myself to see if she's alright, but I would be seen. But you, you're small. You would most likely go unnoticed. Now I know there's a chance of you being caught, and it scares me to put you in this kind of situation. But the clan is depending on me to find a way to bring Vulture back." Elsa hesitated at first, but nodded soon after. "I will do anything to serve my clan. You can count on me Whisperingwind." Whisp stroked Elsa with her tail before speaking. "You're very brave, and my suggestion is that you go before the dawn patrol. Which will be leaving soon. And when you get there, see if Vulture is in need of help. If she is, come back and get us. If not, you can just come home." Elsa nodded once again, and left to get a piece of fresh kill before leaving. Whisp was tempted to follow her, v very afraid of what could happen to the apprentice if she were caught. She caught sight of Elsa's tail passing the entrance/exit of the cavern. //Please be careful.//

As the hours passed, Whisp couldn't help but feel worried for the two. "That's it. I'm going after them." But just as Whisp got up to go after them, the two figures of Elsa and a wounded Vulturestar made their way over to the medicine den. Racing after them, she saw Vanillabean already tending to Vulture's wounds. "What happened?! Did LichenClan attack?" Vulturestar simply chuckled, then winced as Vanilla pressed herbs to her bleeding gashes. "No it wasn't them. I never got to the camp. It was a darn fox. If it weren't for Elsa here, I would have been stuck out there." Whisp sat and took a deep breath. "I- I'm sorry I didn't come sooner. You said you wanted to go alone, and we didn't want to go against your orders." But Vulture didn't respond. She was thanking Elsa. At least Elsa was being considered a hero. Whisp left the two to hunt. Vulture would certainly need it.

Whisp paced back and forth in one of the dens. She needed to think this through. If she waited, that would risk them not coming back. If she went, who would she take? She only had a few Novitates and an injured Soldier. Whisp huffed and gathered the cats by high rock. "Vulturestar and her patrol have been gone since dawn. And it is now nearly night. I will be going to find their patrol. The rest of you stay here and watch the camp. If anything happens, leave for BoulderClan. They're nearest to us, and surely they wouldn't see you as a threat. I may be gone for a while, but don't worry. I'll be fine." She leap down and was surprised when two older Novitates approached her. "We'd like to join you if that's alright." Whisp sook her head. "I need you two to stay here. Watch over the clan while I'm gone." and signaled for them to return to their dens. She remembered Vulturestar telling her that they would be passing through HollowClan territory, so she would check the borders first.

As she approached the river Whisp peered across, searching for any signs that they may have been there. Sadly she couldn't see anything without getting a closer look. She slowly entered the cold water, a shudder moving down her spine. Now was not the time to complain or whine. Now was the time to find their leader and clan mates. Once she had a clear view of the ground she coul see that there were claw marks in the ground, along with tufts of fur. There had been a fight. The patrol must have been caught by HollowClanners.

Whisp continued onwards, constantly on edge and watching for any HollowClan patrols. Luckily she was able to avoid the patrol and was coming within close distance of the camp. Finding a hole in the dense bush, she peered in. Across the camp she could see Vulture and her patrol being guarded by two large cats. //Now how am I gonna get them out?// Maybe if she watched for a while. She noticed a pair of HollowClan kits playing near the water mere fox lengths from where she was. An idea came to her, but she hated every bit of it. Sure it could work, but she could never bring herself to that. But she had no choice. Lunging forward, she snatched up one of the kits and covered its mouth with a paw. It squirmed and tried to bite her, but failed. "I'm sorry little one." Whisp knew that the other kit will have told some warriors by now, so she stayed put till she heard the mother's wails. Let them think it's long gone, and they'll want their baby back even more. When wailing could be heard from across the camp, Whisp revealed herself and stepped out of the bush. The kit still hanging in her jaws. All cats turned to Whisp, and one even began to run at her. Whisp dropped the kit and held it pinned under her claws. "Ah ah ah. One more step and my claws will slice right into this kit's neck. I don't think you'd want that." The Tom stayed where he was, keeping his eyes on the kit. Whisp even had the attention of her clan mates who were in what looked like the prison den. She could see Vulture, but her expression was unreadable. She was either grateful, or furious.

Whisp took a deep breath as Weaselstar approached. "Release the kit now and you will not be harmed." She hated doing this, she really did. But Whisp had no other alternative of getting the patrol back. Any clan wouldn't waste an opportunity to imprison Vulturestar and her best Soldiers. "I do not wish to fight you Weaselstar, but I need this patrol back." She said motioning towards the group in the prison den. "Or you will never see this kit again. And that is a promise." The tiny thing must have been crying, she could hear it's whimpers. Whisp could spot it's mother, being comforted by the other queens. She was also in tears. But Whisp wouldn't let her emotions cloud her loyalty. Weaselstar tried to read Whisp, to see if she would really do it. But Whisp kept a good poker face, even preparing to drive her claws into its exposed neck. Weasel's claws unsheathed, as she looked back to the sobbing mother. It must have been hard for the leader to look weak in this situation. Weasel was powerless to do anything, and she knew what she had to do. Even if she didn't like it. "Fine. Hand over the kit and I'll let them go." Whisp chuckled. "No way I'm falling for that. Let them go first, then I'll give you the kit." Weasel hesitated, but as the queen watched with tears eyes, she gave up. "Alright fine. We'll release them, then you give us the kit or we will hunt you down like dogs." Whisp nodded. "I'll leave him by the river near the border. You can pick him up there. And if you don't find him, feel free to hunt us down all you like." Whisp watched as the guards of the den escorted the patrol to the exit of camp. Whisp picked up the kit by the scruff and followed them. Once they got to the border, Whisp set the shaking kit down. "I'm so sorry if I hurt you. I had to get my friends back." The tiny kit just stared at her and the patrol with wide eyes as they swam back across the river.

When they arrived at camp, Whisp was called to Vulture's den. "Come in Whisperingwind." Whisp hesitantly padded through the entrance, eyes searching for the dark figure in the dark den. "What do you think you were doing back at HollowClan? You could have gotten us all killed. And leaving these Novitates alone in the camp, that was reckless." Whisp flinched and lowered her head. "I'm sorry Vulturestar. I didn't know what to do." Vulture didn't respond, and Whisp knew that Vulture understood that taking the kit was her only guarantee on getting them out. "Next time, think things through. We'll need to have more patrols at the borders. HollowClan may attack for what you did. And Whisp-" Whisp prepared for the punishment. "-thank you. For getting us out. We wouldn't be here if it weren't for you. You may go back to your duties." Whisp thanked her and left. She needed to check in on her kits. They were soon to be apprentices and they needed to be ready.


Ew it sucked I know don't judge me. Just thought Viridity should have a commander before it ends.
