Hello loyal member of BoulderClan! 

Welcome to the Medicine Cat auditions. As in the Deputy counterpart thread here is where you can audition for the position of Medicine Cat AND Medicine Cat Apprentice in the Clan. Though less so than Leader and Deputy there are still responsibilities and expectations for this rank both in character and out so be aware of what possibly gaining the rank will entail. Do your best but don't fret if you're not chosen! Everyone gets a piece of the action.

1) HollowClan has invaded BoulderClan camp. The attack was a complete surprise and left Warriors scrambling to react but, through a fierce effort, the enemy has been driven out and the camp is once again peaceful. Only one problem; many of your Clanmates are now injured in ways that range from wrenched claws to split noses and ugly gashes. What cats do you treat first? Or is it by wounds? Do you turn to others for assistance? The Clan needs some help here either way. 

2) Whitecough! It's been leafbare for what seems like centuries now and with prey stocks running low the Clan has grow thin and more susceptible to sickness, one in particular breaking out in the Apprentices before now spreading to Warriors and even a young Kit. No one seems to have progressed to Greencough, yet, but something has to be done to treat cats and/or prevent it spreading further. What do you do? 

3) Tension is hanging over the forest like a black cloud as relations between the three Clans worsen, and the strain is obviously taking a toll on Mudstar. The Leader is growing increasingly more anxious and has now twice come to you recounting horrible dreams of wailing cats and death, not knowing what else to do to decipher what StarClan has to say. How do you ease his worries? What do you suggest he should do next? Is there something else to take from these messages?

Experience (With the rank or RPing in general): I am pretty experienced when it comes to RPing in general. Whenever I'm in a warriors RP I will usually take thought into being a med cat and I do a good job at it. I have memorized ALOT of the herb list used.

    Cherrypaw glanced around the small clearing of the medicine cats den. The atmosphere was heavy and tense. Many of the cats were still wide eyed and would flinch at the slightest struggle of a leaf in the dawn breeze. She had inspected most of the cats’ wounds, thankfully none were fatal.
    She took a deep breath and quickly padded to a writhing Bumbleberry, he seemed to be in the toughest condition. He looked up at her expectantly, his topaz eyes reflecting his pain. Cherrypaw smiled at him reassuringly and inspected the ugly wound that dug deep into his flank once more, mentally noting what herbs she would need. ‘Goldenrod? No, those are for the help of healing, right? I could defiantly use Dock leaves.’ She thought to herself. Her face wrinkled with concern. Blood still oozed out of the wound, thankfully it was slow. She peered back at Paleberry who was busily treating Weaslepaw who had a blood coated shoulder. Cherrypaw gazed down at the speckled tom.
    "You'll be okay. Just let me get some herbs." She kept her voice low and calmly padded to where the herbs were stored in neat piles. She was apprehensive but she had to look calm in front of her distressed patients. She quickly glanced at each herb. She squeezed her mind, trying to remember the herbs appearances. She put a pile a thin black seeds and cobwebs in a pile of their own. When she managed to pick out the thick green leaf she placed it as well. She lastly placed them under a dried oak leaf, exited that she remembered the use. She briskly went back to speckled tom and placed the herbs in front of her. She quickly and carefully got to work. She placed the cobwebs around the wound, cautious that she wasn't pressing too hard. The bleeding turned the thin transparent pieces an odd pink. She hummed low-key tune, attempting to calm him. She finished the cobwebs and on toward the dock leaves. She crouched down and chewed the bitter leaf into a paste. She scrunched her nose up as she spat the leaf back onto her paw. “This may sting a bit.” She said quietly, giving Bumbleberry a reassuring smile. She started to rub the paste gently into the wound, noticing Bumbleberry’s muscles tense. Cherrypaw jumped a bit as a tail lightly touched her shoulder. Paleberry stood before her.
    “Go take care of Heatherfrost. She has a torn ear. You need marigold. She may be around camp somewhere.” She flicked her eyes irritatingly to the entrance. “Anyways, I’ll take over from here.” She said. With a nod, Cherrypaw bounded off toward the herbs variations once more. ‘I think it would be better if I just have a supply on me.’ She thought with a shake her head. She found the orange-yellow flower in a heap closest to the wall. She picked out the freshest and padded out of the entrance into the warm light.     As she moved, the grass tickled at her paws. She caught sight of the warrior by a thick patch of grass. She flicked her tail at the sight of Cherrypaw and sat up. Her ear was torn badly. Dried blood the color of maroon laced the edges. She bent her head slightly so Cherrypaw could have a better look. The ear was torn halfway off. Cherrypaw straightened.
    “I told Paleberry I was fine. She keeps insisting.” Heatherfrost rolled her eyes in annoyance. She chewed the two into a thick poultice, ignoring the bitter taste of the flower and strange silky texture.
    “We would hate to see infection settle in.” Cherrypaw explained with a warm smile although Heatherfrost didn’t return it. She is a good warrior; the battle must have kicked her off edge. When the marigold was chewed into a thin any enough paste she carefully dabbed it onto the ear. “That should do it. Are you experiencing any pain?” Cherrypaw asked once she was finished with the wound.     Heatherfrost’s eyes softened.
    “No. I believe you’re done with me.” She wrapped her tail around her paws. Cherrypaw’s eyes brightened.

    Cherrypaw had just finished treating Birchkit. Birchkit coughed loudly before sinking her nose back into her thin tail. Bare-Leaf has been too cruel these past moons. Cherrypaw was always bustling about whether it was helping the cats in the medicine den or out in the territory looking for the precious herb, catmint. Cherrypaw took a moment, listening to the simple sound of the small waterfall that kept the den from being too quiet. She flashed a glance at the other five cats that had stayed in the medicine den. Cherrypaw heaved a heavy sigh before checking on Ratpaw. She crossed the trodden grass to the brown tabby who was hacking loudly, interrupting any chances of sleep. He opened his weary amber eyes to look up at her. She passed him a sympathetic look before briskly getting a few leaves of catmint. Her mouth watered as she held it in her jaws. They were getting dangerously low on the precious plant. If the cough were to turn to Greencough they would be in trouble. The scary thing was she believed that Ratpaw was in the beginnings of it. She turned back to him. “Eat these.” Cherrypaw sounded weary and tired. She pawed the leaves in front of his nose. Ratpaw ate them up without hesitation. He curled back up into a ball and closed his eyes. Once she ensured Ratpaw was fully asleep she trudged out of the den into the cold air.
    Snow froze her paws and a tight brittle breeze rocketed her fur. She took a deep breath of the night air. It was definitely better than the stuffy scent of sickness. The camp was bare. Paleberry was still out in search of herbs that would be useful for the cough. It has spread around fast although it wasn’t too deadly, yet. She shuddered at the thought of the clan being haunted by a thick cloud of sickness.
    In the dull night she caught sight of the she-cats pale fur. Paleberry dragged her paws to the entrance of the medicine cat den. There was a good supply of coltsfoot hanging in her jaws but the sweet scent of catmint was not distinguished. Cherrypaw followed after Paleberry as she picked her way through the den. She settled down next to the herbs, quietly sorting the fresh ones and throwing out the stale ones.
    “Is that all you could find?” Cherrypaw shifted her paws. Paleberry sighed.
    “Yes. The coltsfoot seems in good shape for a while but the catmint was very little and the frost has already taken it.” She didn’t lift her eyes from her work. Cherrypaw nodded.
    “I see. I used some catmint for Ratpaw. He isn’t getting any better.” She mumbled. Paleberry opened her jaws to speak, “We need to save the catmint for more extreme purposes.” She glanced at Ratpaw who seemed to be in a comfortable sleep.
    “If the cats are to develop Greencough we need to save it for then. For now use tansy and coltsfoot.” Cherrypaw nodded in understanding. “Meanwhile, you get some rest.” Cherrypaw felt relief flood over her body, she needed the sleep.
    “You should ask Mudstar to make a meeting to not come into the Medicine cats den. We don’t need it to spread any more than it is.” Cherrypaw suggested standing up again to make way into the stone cave.
    “Good Idea.”

    Cherrypaw sorted through the new herbs she had just collected from the territory. She was quietly mumbling the names of each herb when she came across one she did not know quite well, a sharp smelling dark leafed plant with a lot of its roots attached. She turned to Paleberry who was snoozing in her nest. “I hate to wake you but I can’t seem to remember this herb.” Cherrypaw mewed pushing the root toward her. Paleberry lifted her head and smiled at the young apprentice.
    “Burdock root. You can remember its sharp smell; it helps with infected rat bites.” She lied her head on her paws again. Cherrypaw was about to go back to sorting when she heard paw steps. She turned to Mudstar padding anxiously toward them. Paleberry sat upright.
    Cherrypaw mewed, “How are you Mudstar?” She already knew the answer. He peered up at them in a startled way. Cherrypaw crossed the thin creek and awaited Mudstar’s message.
    “I-I believe that these dreams the-they mean something more than what are really getting out of them.” His amber eyes were clouded in worry.
    Paleberry crossed to her side. “What happened?”
    Mudstar shifted his paws uncomfortably. “Cats they are dying”- Cherrypaw cut him off.
    “Are they still dreams of the battles? Did you get any message, any words?” Cherrypaw looked at him sharply. Sure, these were tough times for the three clans but dreams of death and destruction were a lot to handle.
    “Yes and No.” Mudstar looked down. “Perhaps we should visit the stars?” Mudstar looked at the two medicine cats, apprehension sparking his eyes.
    “Maybe. Since you’ve been having these dreams more than once I don’t see the harm in asking Starclan for guidance.” Cherrypaw looked at Paleberry for acceptance. She slowly nodded.
    “Perhaps.” Paleberry seemed in her own daze. Cherrypaw put a tail on the leader’s shoulder. “It’s alright. The next time this happens we will go ask Starclan for guidance. I am sure it is simply worries and anticipation haunting your dreams.” Cherrypaw smiled reassuringly.
    “For now I’d advise you to double patrols. I will also tell you if I see any strange things when im in the territory searching for herbs.” Cherrypaw felt like true medicine cat then, giving her leader advice. Mudstar nodded slowly his eyes still glued to the ground.
    “Have you told any other cats about you dreams?” Paleberry asked.
    “No. I’ve brought it up with Swiftleap before but it was just in small chat. This wouldn’t be a good time to get the cats into panic.” Mudstar looked at Paleberry. Cherrypaw mewed her agreement. The leader left, his tail a little higher than it was before.

    Later that night Cherrypaw had her own distressing dream.
    She awoke in the middle of a dark clearing. The sky was slate and the stars were nowhere to be seen in the canvas of the night. Cherrypaw stood on all fours, looking around hastily. ‘Where am I?’ She thought. Wailing was heard far in the distance. Her fur stood on end as she trotted to the sound. Her eyes were narrowed and her ears were pinned back. Just beyond the brambles that dug up from the ground where cats fighting. It didn’t take long to distinguish the cats of her clan. The scent of blood filled her nostrils. She wanted to run into the mass and fight for the safety of her clan but she couldn’t move.
She wailed in terror as she sat upright in the safety of the cave she had fallen asleep in. Only the hushed sounds of the waterfall were heard. She blinked through the darkness.
    “Cherrypaw? Are you alright?” She heard the sleepy voice of Paleberry echo against the walls. She breathed in, tight and shallow.     
    “Yeah. I-I had a dream.”
